Omond & Co provides pragmatic, commercial advice that takes account of all of its client's circumstances. It does not simply provide a statement of the relevant law, leaving the client to try to apply it to reality.

The firm's non-CBD location and low number of staff means that it is very cost-competitive, with a charge-out rate for lawyers with 10+ years' quality commercial experience equal to charge-out rates for 1st or 2nd year lawyers at the big CBD firms.

Omond & Co does not try to be a 'full service' firm - it only undertakes work when it can do so economically, efficiently, and accurately. If a task is outside the areas of the firm's expertise, we will tell the client. We can then offer to source the advice from another specialist law firm (or barrister), direct the client to an appropriate service provider, or leave it to the client to source its own advice.

We also aim to become as familiar as possible with clients' business (at our cost, not the clients' !), so that we can provide quick telephone advice on those small 'day-to-day' legal matters that crop up all too frequently when running a business.

Costs

Omond & Co believes that legal billing should more closely match the business practices of the firm's clients. We do not charge for typing, secretarial overtime, incidental photocopying, postage and most telephone calls (i.e. the general costs of doing business).

Omond & Co offers clients a range of different costs options, from the 'risk/reward' trade-off faced by business, to the traditional time-costing favoured by lawyers and other professionals.
The different options include: 

• fixed-price per task;
• discounted rates, with success fee dependent on outcome of the transaction;
• retainer;
• time-charging; or
• a combination of the above.

Some of these options are only available to established clients. We are also open to other options proposed by clients.
